Assenaar and Hoogeveense suspected of fraud with fruit and vegetable company

The FIOD raided two homes and a market stall in Assen and Hoogeveen on Tuesday in an investigation into tax fraud. A man (65) and woman (51) would have deliberately cheated with their tax returns with their fruit and vegetable trade.

The two have not been arrested, but the FIOD – the investigation service of the Tax Authorities – has seized the administration of the company that the Assenaar and the Hoogeveen have been running since 2018.

“The investigation by the FIOD shows that the company reported too little sales tax. The investigation team also suspects that the company employed more staff than was accounted for in the accounts. As a result, part of the wages was not declared and there was paid too little payroll tax”, according to the suspicion.

It is not known exactly how much money the Tax and Customs Administration has lost. Further research will have to reveal this.
