There is also an eastern part of Work Landscape Assen-Zuid. It was also used as a business park. But in 2017, Assen made the choice to develop a large solar park there. At that time there was much less need for the company land.
BronnenVanOns, together with Windunie, is developing the Assen-South Energy Garden at this fifty-hectare location. It is a solar park that will be there for twenty years and is operated by Energy Cooperative Sustainable Assen. Solar panels will be installed on about twenty hectares. There is also room for all kinds of plants, a fruit orchard, walking routes and picnic benches. This solar park is important for Assen. It contributes twenty percent to the agreement that the municipality made with the region for the supply of sustainable energy.
