Assen and Emmen have relatively many suspects of crimes in Drenthe

The chance that a fellow villager or fellow citizen was registered as a suspect of a crime in Drenthe last year is greatest in Assen and Emmen. This is evident from figures published today by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

Last year, 94 suspects per 10,000 inhabitants were registered in Assen, 80 in Emmen. This concerns, for example, prohibited possession of weapons or drug trafficking. Assen ranks 28th nationally, Emmen ranks 65th.

Hoogeveen completes the Drenthe ‘top 3’ (90th place nationally). There, 75 suspects were registered per 10,000 inhabitants.

The municipality of Aa en Hunze stands out in a positive sense. The Drenthe municipality registers ‘only’ 34 suspects per 10,000 inhabitants. As a result, Aa en Hunze ranks 329th nationally, out of a total of 342 municipalities in our country.

The ‘safest’ municipality in our country is Schiermonnikoog, where not a single suspect has been registered. The municipality with the most suspects is Heerlen with 149 per 10,000 inhabitants.
