Asleep at the wheel: man survives serious accident in Vlamertinge

The accident happened around a quarter to ten on the Noorderring in Vlamertinge. A 24-year-old man from Poperinge fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the road. His car collided with a trailer parked next to the road.

Out of danger

The impact was very hard but the driver survived the impact. Firefighters arrived on the scene and were unable to free him. The paramedics can get the man out of the wreckage.

He was taken to Jan Yperman hospital with serious injuries but is out of danger.
