The Berlin-based fashion label GmbH has worked with the Japanese sporting goods manufacturer Asics for the fourth time and has now presented two new sneaker models that are the result of the latest collaboration.
In addition, Asics’ classic Gel Quantum 360 6 has been completely redesigned in terms of colour, composition and materials, while retaining the functionality and technology of Asics’ patented gel sole.
“GmbH cut open the shoe and dissected the upper into an open, flat work of art that is asymmetrically colored, making each shoe in a pair appear unique and mismatched. Executed in the two strongly contrasting color combinations Pure Silver/Sour Yuzu and Rich Gold/Black Coffee, the sneakers show the play with shiny and suggestive surfaces that is characteristic of GmbH. The sleek finishes look ominous and seductive at the same time,” says a press release.
The two new designs were staged by photographer and director Olgac Bozalp and styled by Raphael Hirsch. “The video and images show the brotherhood and community of a group of young men in Berlin. In images of physical activity, we see a kind of masculinity that is often denigrated, but here portrayed with beauty,” the brands explain.
The last collaboration between Ascis and GmbH was at the end of 2020 when Asics and GmbH collaborated on a project that resulted in the “Gel-Chappel”, a mixture of Peshwari Chappals, traditional sandals from Pakistan, with Asics Gel-Technology in the sole. The creation was neither a low shoe, a sandal nor a sneaker, but a modern hybrid in the colors black and burgundy, which cost 215 euros.
An exclusive pre-launch of the new Asics x GmbH shoe models will take place on Wednesday, March 16, from 12 noon German time via the GmbH online shop gmbhgmbh.eu. The shoes will then officially be available from Friday, March 18, 2022. No information has yet been given about the prices.
