“We will see lower temperatures in the run-up to Ascension Day. On Monday it will be 17 to 20 degrees, Tuesday and Wednesday it will not be warmer than 12 to 15 degrees regionally, “says Rico. Could we only go out in a T-shirt on Ascension Day?
Ascension Day
According to Rico, the answer to that question is no… “There is only a 2 percent chance of temperatures of 20 degrees or more in the north and more than 10 percent in the south.” In Zoetermeer the temperature is between 15 and 18 degrees. In the weekend that follows, the temperature will slowly rise further. Just wear a coat if you take a detour through Zoetermeer.
According to Rico, the average temperature on Ascension Day is over 18 degrees in our current climate. In the past it has been summery warm (25 degrees or more) during this day six times. It was warmest in 1954 with 29.2 degrees. The high temperatures were all measured in De Bilt on Ascension Days, which were celebrated quite late in the year.
Dry or rain?
Do you also need an umbrella during that walk or will it stay dry in Zoetermeer? According to Rico, the chance of a dry Ascension Day, with perhaps a single shower, is about 60 percent.
