Second notable newcomer after Dybala
The commitment of the second well-known player after Paulo Dybala (28) this summer at AS Roma is certain: Georginio Wijnaldum (31) from Paris Saint-Germain joins the Giallorossi. The loan has already been registered with Serie A, with both clubs still pending.
According to reports, the Conference League winner secured a purchase option for the central midfielder. If he completes at least 50 percent of the competitive games, a purchase obligation of just under 6 million euros should even apply. Only a year ago, Wijnaldum moved to Paris on a free transfer from Liverpool, where he had won the championship and Champions League as a regular. The 86-time Dutch national player also won the title there, but was only rarely able to live up to the high expectations, mostly oscillating between the starting eleven and the role of joker, in the lost round of 16 of the “premier class” against Real Madrid he even sat on the bench twice for more than 90 minutes . The new start should now take place under coach José Mourinho.
Developments over the past few months have seen his market value drop from €30m on transfer to the current €18m – the lowest since his time at Newcastle in the 2015/16 season. Wijnaldum’s contract with PSG runs until 2024. After the right foot, Andrea Belotti (28) could move to Roma, currently the most valuable without a club.
