The PIN AG is now distributing the notifications for the referendum “Berlin 2030 climate-neutral”.

Around 2.4 million Berliners are called to the ballot box for March 26th – 42 days after the repeat election that just took place. Climate Alliance originally wanted a parallel election and voting date. The Senate rejected this because it feared new complications after the chaos election.

What is it about? So far, it is planned that Berlin will only become climate-neutral by 2045. The Senate had rejected shortening this goal by 15 years – impossible! That was also the opinion of the responsible Senator Bettina Jarasch (54, Greens), who, however, wants to tick yes privately in the vote.

The voting brochure comprises 48 pages with information on the voting question and the wording of the underlying bill of the initiative. The arguments of the initiators and a statement by the Senate are also included.

How expensive would faster climate neutrality be? Investment costs are estimated to be in the high double-digit billions.
