As of today, no trains between Assen and Meppel for two weeks

As of today, travelers between Meppel and Assen cannot use the train. ProRail will be working on the track at Hoogeveen for two weeks, until Thursday 22 June.

This is the same work that was carried out in May last year. Then ProRail did not finish the work on time. Due to the corona period and the war in Ukraine, it was not possible to get parts to Hoogeveen on time.

The railway manager will work on bends in the track on both sides of the station for fourteen days. By widening bends in the track, also known as the track curve, trains will soon no longer have to slow down. This saves time and ensures a better transfer in Groningen and Zwolle.

The work must be completed in time for the TT, which will take place from 23 to 25 June.

Buses will be used for the work. The expected extra travel time between Meppel and Assen is up to 45 minutes. Buses run from the stations in Meppel, Hoogeveen, Beilen, Assen and Zwolle (south side, Hanzelaan). Express buses also run between Zwolle and Assen.
