Artistic Gymnastics World Cup: Hashimoto wins all-around gold

Dress rehearsal successful: During the test run for Sunday’s parallel bars final, Lukas Dauser, who came second at the Olympics at the World Championships in Liverpool, really impressed the competition. The 29-year-old from Unterhaching achieved 15.166 points on his special apparatus as part of the all-around decision, the highest value of the evening on this apparatus.

The referees especially appreciated his clean exit, there were slight deductions for a small wobble. In qualifying for the decision on bars on Sunday (4:30 p.m. CET), the German all-around champion even received 15,400 points. But the time soldier also showed a strong performance with the other five devices and ended up taking eleventh place.

As expected, Dauser had nothing to do with the medal award in the supreme discipline. In a competition that was exciting right down to the last exercise, victory in the M&S Arena went to Daiki Hashimoto.

The Japanese Olympic champion of Tokyo 2021 dethroned the defending champion Zhang Boheng of China in his triumph. Hashimoto’s compatriot Wataru Tanigawa secured the bronze medal. Jumping Olympic champion Carlos Yulo from the Philippines, who had been in the lead after the first round, fell back significantly after a botched exercise on the pommel horse.

The world title fights continue on Saturday with the first five apparatus finals. From 17:00 CET, the German record champion Elisabeth Seitz from Stuttgart will be fighting for a medal in the uneven bars final one day after her 29th birthday.
