Surviving in an attic room of twenty square meters

Surviving on barely twenty square meters, in an attic room with a makeshift bed – two mattresses on the floor – and a small kitchen with no running water. That has been the life of artist Rob Scholte (64) and his wife Lijsje Snijder (46) for three years now. They have lost almost all of their possessions. The malaise is the result of a long-standing dispute with the municipality of Den Helder. “It’s the biggest art theft of the century.”
