Neapolitan pizza has long been a huge hit. Especially in the capital region, numerous restaurants baking artisan pizzas have been established, where the dough is raised for several days.
Top pizzas also have top prices, which have recently become even more expensive due to increased freight and raw material costs.

A sample of the most popular artisan pizzerias reveals that pizza prices are around 20 euros on both sides, some even close to 30 euros.
But now the entrepreneurs of the We Are Group chain want to shake up the market and start a price war for artisanal pizzas. As you know, they have at least the cheapest artisanal pizzas in the capital region.
In the Pikku Napoli restaurant, which recently opened in the shopping center Tripla, the prices of pizzas are 10 and 12 euros.

Responsible for designing the pizzas Markus Hurskainenhow is it possible?
– First we decided on the price and then I started to map out which raw materials we can use to keep the price affordable. A well-thought-out selection of only six pizzas allows costs to be controlled, says Hurskainen, who is also known as a judge on the Koko Suomi leipoo program.
The restaurant does not take table reservations and orders are made at the counter so that the customer can quickly get the pizza in front of them.

The kitchen has two pizza ovens next to each other so that pizzas can be baked quickly. Volume trade makes it possible to sell pizzas at a lower price.
However, Hurskainen reminds us that despite the speed, each pizza ball is opened and shaped by hand. Of course, he admits that it is more challenging to take care of uniformity in a large volume.
In addition to the price, consideration has been given to the shelf life of the raw materials, because Hurskainen does not want waste.
The We Are Group chain has other restaurants besides Pikku Napoli, so the chain’s larger acquisitions are also reflected in the prices.

This time, like Story, the pizzas do not have sourdough or more expensive domestic ingredients.
– Sourdough pizzas take 30-40 seconds longer in the oven than regular pizzas. If we sell several hundred pizzas a day, I calculated that it wastes too much time, says Hurskainen.
Little Napoli’s menu includes the always popular margherita, vegan pizza, fiery diavola, the ever-popular salami, ham pizza Jamon and white cacio e pepe.
Hurskainen has previously admitted out loud that he is a fan of pineapple pizza. Pineapple is not found in Italian pizzas. But Hurskainen states that if there is demand, Pikku Napoli might also offer pineapple pizza.
The name of the restaurant has a back door: it is Neapolitan-style, not a Neapolitan pizzeria.
