Artificial intelligence developed new recipes, the Michelin chef couldn’t believe the end result: “Really impressive”

British newspaper Telegraph asked ChatGPT, a chatty AI, to design three Michelin-star recipes. One of the recipes was for omnivores, one pescovegetarian and one completely vegan. All recipes had to use seasonal produce.

A pescovegetarian diet does not contain meat, but may contain fish, eggs and dairy products.

Michelin chef Chris Galvin was surprised by the recipe developed especially for omnivores. No one has yet come up with a similar dose.

– The recipe is really good. Very convincing, Galvin stated.

Galvin’s praised recipe was pan seared quail with wild garlic, asparagus and truffle sauce. The vegan recipe was roasted beetroot with pea puree and horseradish emulsion. The pescovegetarian portion included browned scallops with celery puree and fennel salad.

The artificial intelligence took 30 seconds to develop the doses. English recipes with cooking instructions can be found from here.

Artificial intelligence restaurants of the future

Artificial intelligence is also used to help large food companies. For example, the snack manufacturer Nestle uses artificial intelligence to analyze consumer habits and come up with new product ideas. McDonalds again uses artificial intelligence to support orders.

Recipes developed by artificial intelligence indicate that it could be used more widely in the future.

Director of the Global Future Institute, a US think tank James Canton is also on the same lines.

– Artificial intelligence has already won the award for photojournalism. In the future, we could get three- or even four-star artificial intelligence chefs, Canton thinks.

However, artificial intelligence without taste is not going to displace chefs right away, even though it is capable of coming up with ideas for dishes.

Artificial intelligence is more likely to support hectic restaurant work than cooking. For example, the artificial intelligence company Statis.Ai is developing camera-based artificial intelligence that reminds the chef if something has been forgotten about the order.
