The synthetic turf pitch is gone from the Sparta stadium after eight years. The Rotterdam Eredivisionist reports on Monday that Het Kasteel now has a natural grass pitch.
Sparta installed the synthetic turf field in 2014 for financial reasons. During a conversation with the Eredivisie CV, the clubs from the highest football division agreed to return to natural grass as much as possible.
“The coming days will be used to prepare the playing field, such as applying the lines and the goals,” said Sparta, which will use the new field for the first time on Saturday in a practice match against FC Emmen.
