Artem Dzyuba leaves Zenit St. Petersburg for Adana Demirspor

After seven years at Zenit

Artem Dzyuba is moving abroad for the first time after his contract with Zenit St. Petersburg expired. The 33-year-old signed a contract with Süper Lig club Adana Demirspor until 2023 with an option for a further year on Thursday. Dzyuba, who contributed 108 goals and 70 assists in 249 games in seven years at Zenit, is regarded as the successor to top scorer Mario Balotelli (32), who is being courted by FC Sion, among others.

After Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, Dzyuba was one of the few Russian footballers to be critical. In March, the long-time captain of the national team also decided not to take part in a training camp in Moscow. Dzyuba “because of the difficult situation in Ukraine, where many of his family members live, asked not to be nominated,” said coach Valeriy Karpin.
