Lindsay van Zundert concluded her season with seventeenth place at the World Championships in Montpellier. The 17-year-old figure skater from Etten-Leur now has two whole weeks off before the preparations for the new year start again. ‘A special fries? No, not that.’
Van Zundert was visibly emotional on Friday after her last freestyle. “It has been a super fun season, but there was a lot of tension,” Van Zundert said in the radio program De Zuidtribune on Sunday. “The Games took a long period of time and then I also had the Dutch National Championships and the World Cup. It was quite difficult physically and mentally to let myself go again. I’m glad it’s over and I have two weeks of rest.”
In two weeks Van Zundert will fly to America to work on a new freestyle. And those days are busy. “I’m certainly not going all out. I’m in the fourth year of havo and I still have to catch up on some things, so I still have to go to school for a while. I will mainly focus on that.”
“Of course I’m going to do something fun with friends, but I also keep doing my exercises to stay in shape. A special fries? No, not that, but I did have a nice frappuccino at Starbucks yesterday”, de Etten chuckles. -Leurse.
Van Zundert hopes to force participation in the World Cup again next season, which will be held in Japan. “That’s a nice target. Top-15 must be in it, because I can still learn a lot in terms of skating skills and my jumps.”
