The man who set fire to a villa in Geldrop on Monday night was most likely injured himself. This is what the police deduce from the CCTV footage. It shows the man sprinkling a liquid and making a trail from the car in the driveway to the front door. When he uses his lighter, a huge blowtorch with explosion is created. The suspect must have suffered burns or scorch marks because he can barely escape, according to the police.
Images have been circulated of the arsonist driving a dark-colored Toyota Aygo X. “He is wearing a dark jacket with a wide reflective bar on the sleeves, just above the elbow. He is also wearing a red beanie, blue jeans with light spots and black shoes with light soles. This coupled with the fact that he probably has no eyelashes and eyebrows left… hopefully this will tell someone something,” the police said.
In the explosion at the villa on the Swimming Pool Road in Geldrop, a car was destroyed by fire around two o’clock at night. Shortly before, there was an explosion at the front door of a villa. According to a 112 correspondent, there were four residents, including two children, in the house. They were sleeping when the explosion happened. The residents were able to leave the house in time.
The police do not yet know why someone was targeting the house or the family.
