Arson at police station: 3 years in prison and TBS required

A 30-year-old suspect was sentenced to 3 years in prison and TBS with compulsory treatment on Wednesday for the arson at the police station on Mathildelaan in Eindhoven. The man from Eindhoven is also suspected of setting fire to a house on Oldengaarde in Eindhoven and of setting fire to a car in that city. This all happened in July last year.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, TBS is necessary because the man is said to suffer from various disorders that require treatment.

The arson at the police station happened on the night of July 8 to 9 last year. Around one o’clock at night, a bottle containing a flammable liquid was emptied near the revolving door and set on fire.

The fire was quickly spotted. No one was injured. However, the door was damaged. Based on camera images, the suspect was arrested a few days later.

In two weeks, the court in Den Bosch will rule in this case.
