The assumption of part of the far right’s salary, which is rumored to be £140,000 (around 165,000 euros) per week, by the French is an elementary part of the talks. Arsenal, who have invested around 132 million euros in new players this summer (see overview), want to reduce the 26-man squad if possible by the end of the transfer deadline on September 1st. In addition to Pépé, Ainsley Maitland-Niles (24), who is associated with promoted Nottingham, is a possible candidate for a departure.
Arsenal coach Arteta: Communicate when the moment is right
Pépé, who moved from LOSC Lille to the Thames for €80m in 2019, still has a contract there until 2024. Since his move, he has made 112 appearances and 48 goals for Arsenal. Before the away game in Bournemouth (Saturday, 6:30 p.m./in the TM live ticker), coach Mikel Arteta explained with regard to the squad planning: “Whatever we can communicate, we always do when it’s the right moment. We discussed that we have a big squad and we made some decisions as well as allowing players to leave. Anything can happen to any player until the end of the window.”
