Arsenal ready to break transfer record – 10 players off list

Times info

Arsenal FC’s record spending dates back to the summer of 2021, when the Gunners invested 166 million for six players. In the upcoming transfer window, according to the “Times“ got the green light to break this record. The squad could even be bolstered for over €230m and most of that money will come from signing defensive midfielders Declan Rice (24, West Ham) and Moisés Caicedo (21, Brighton).

In addition to the two “sixes”, which are said to cost around 160 million euros together, Arteta also wants an attacker and two defenders. The London-based newspaper names Moussa Diaby (23, Bayer), Mason Mount (24, Chelsea) and Raphinha (26, Barça) as candidates for the offensive. Players from clubs that have either not qualified for the Champions League (via the league) or are dependent on income.

Players on Arsenal tally list have market value of almost 200 million

Part of Arsenal’s transfer budget is said to be generated by selling its own players. Ten candidates are therefore up for grabs: Rob Holding (27), Kieran Tierney (25), Emile Smith Rowe (22) and Granit Xhaka (30) from the current squad – the latter is traded as a candidate in Leverkusen.

In addition, there are currently loaned Folarin Balogun (21, Reims), Nicolas Pépé (27, Nice), Nuno Tavares (23, Marseille), Cédric Soares (31, Fulham), Albert Sambi Lokonga (23, Crystal Palace) and Ainsley Maitland-Niles (25, Southampton) – all Arsenal loan players at a glance. These ten professionals have a cumulative market value of almost EUR 200 million and the majority have contracts until 2025 or longer.

The Gunners led the Premier League for 27 games before winning just two of their last seven games in the final quarter of the season. Man City have passed with eleven wins in a row and are about to defend their title. At Arsenal, this slump is said to have been attributed to a lack of hardness and aggressiveness in the squad. Arteta wants to part with the players in the summer, where he does not see the level required for the Premier League and Champions League. The main targets are Rice and Caicedo, who combine physicality and technique and are among the most valuable players who have never played in the “premier class”.
