Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injury of Dutch defender Jurriën Timber in the run-up to the match against PSV in the Champions League. “His recovery is going very well, but unfortunately we will have to miss him for a long time,” said the Spanish coach a day before the match in Eindhoven.
“It is of course a serious injury, but at this stage of his rehabilitation it is going very quickly,” Arteta said during a press conference. “It’s nice to see how hard he works. With such an injury it is also important how someone deals with it mentally and that goes very well.”
Timber, who came over from Ajax for 40 million euros in the summer, suffered a serious knee injury in August during the second league match of the season. Arteta stated a few days later that he is no longer counting on him this season.
Arsenal is already certain of a group win in the Champions League. PSV continues as number 2 in the group.
