Arrest team raided house that was burned down, police guarded building

The house on Waalstraat in Den Bosch, which became uninhabitable due to a fire on Friday evening, was raided by an arrest team last May. The police cannot yet say whether there is a connection: “The investigation will have to show that.” A spokesperson does confirm that the house is guarded by officers, but that is to prevent traces from being erased. Drone images show that the damage is enormous.

The police and fire brigade were notified on Friday evening around ten o’clock that a fire had broken out in a corner house on Waalstraat. The fire likely started at the back of the house. How this was possible is still being investigated. There may be arson.

An investigation into the cause cannot yet begin in and around the house, the police reported around noon on Saturday. “This could be because the house is still too hot, for example, or because there may still be harmful substances in the house,” a police spokesperson explains.

Traces present
“That is why screens have been installed and there is security. This is a crime scene where traces may be present. This is a standard procedure to ensure the safety of our Forensic Investigators,” the spokesperson explains.

There were three people in the house when the fire broke out. One of them, a six-year-old boy, suffered smoke inhalation and had to be examined in a hospital. Both the corner house and the house next to it are uninhabitable.

Guns and money in the house
In May, firearms and a large amount of money were found in the same house on Waalstraat. A police arrest team had entered the house. The police received a report that the 59-year-old man who lives there was in possession of a gun.

He was not at home at the time and later reported to the police station. The man from Den Bosch has now appeared before the judge, who sentenced him to a year in prison at the beginning of last month. That was also demanded.

An arrest team was needed to arrest the resident of the building in May 2023:
