On Thursday evening, a 26-year-old man from Landgraaf was arrested at a holiday park in Westerhoven. He is the sixteenth suspect arrested in an investigation into a criminal organization that produces synthetic drugs, such as amphetamines, at home and abroad.
The man arrested at the holiday park is said to have been engaged in the production and import of synthetic drugs.
Two men arrested in Spain
Earlier this month, two suspects (30 and 24) were arrested in Spain in the investigation. They were handed over to the Netherlands shortly before the weekend. The three were brought before the examining magistrate on Monday and will remain in detention for at least another fourteen days.
In November last year, hundreds of agents from the Netherlands and Belgium already raided Bergeijk, Eindhoven and the Belgian Neerpelt in the extensive investigation into the drug gang. Six arrests were made.
Several drug labs dismantled
The police have been investigating the criminal organization since May 2020. Several drug labs were dismantled in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
