Arnhem-Noord exit on A12 closed for weekend | NOW

The A50 has been closed for major maintenance between Arnhem and Apeldoorn since Friday, and another closure will be added tomorrow evening. Traffic coming from the east can then no longer use the Arnhem-Noord exit at Postillon Hotel Arnhem.

The connecting loop to the A50 at the Waterberg junction has therefore already been closed and the exit will also be closed for work tomorrow evening, Friday 12 August. They must be ready by 6 a.m. Monday at the latest. Traffic from the east that wants to enter Arnhem is advised to drive via the Velperbroek junction or via the Oosterbeek/Wolfheze exit.

Exit will remain open for ambulances

The Arnhem-Noord exit is an important one. Not only for the major Arnhem attractions Burgers’ Zoo and the Dutch Open Air Museum, but also for the Rijnstate Arnhem hospital, for example. “We have discussed this in advance,” explains a spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat. Ambulances can continue to use the exit.

The number of road closures in and around Arnhem thus reaches a peak. In the city itself, the John Frost Bridge has been off limits for motorized traffic for weeks and work is now also being done on the usually busy Airborneplein. There is still one lane available and it will remain that way until September 10, when the bridge opens again.

New asphalt for the Zijpendaalseweg

From Monday to Friday, the municipality of Arnhem will also close the Zijpendaalseweg. The asphalt between Sonsbeekweg and Parkweg must be renewed, and that job must be completed before the Simac Ladies Tour cycling race hits the city on Sunday 4 September. The work has no consequences for through traffic. “This is really a neighborhood connection,” says a municipal spokesperson.

Apart from the road works, Arnhem is more difficult to reach by train these days. Until Tuesday 30 August, there will be no trains to and from Utrecht due to the renovation of Ede-Wageningen station.
