Arne Quinze creates a light sculpture tentoon in Arabian woestijn

“Met a strong team we talked about 4 a.m. at night before we arrived in the Woestijn. All that is said to have been done in metal and heat up to a temperature of 45 degrees can be noemen from the construction and from a technical point of view.”

The sculpture Oasis is 32 meters by 16 meters from the largest of the Quinze al Bouwde.

Overday is not an oasis: the one large flower in one large and desolate landscape.

Oasis will be built in Belgian studios and shipped to Saudi-Arabia, so the team will have the most opportunity. “We would like to have heruitvinden onszelf voortdurend. A work as dit bouw je not zomaar. We first make a maquette, with a shell of something to do with it. Daarna gaven engineers de bouwplannen concrete vorm. Then follow the light plans.

The installation is dead 19 November te zien op het Noor Riyadh Light Festival, the previous year for the first keer was organized in Opdracht van Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the king of Saudi Arabia.

“Uiteraard is a reputation of the land op vlak van mansenrechteen een ding. I don’t understand that I op een lijst sta van people who are nauw omgaan with human rights. My idea is that I would like to have it in my own home, but before that I will remember that it will not happen”, says a verbaasde Quinze.

In the future, the ik spoke, zijn eensgezind: the last vijf jaar has changed enormously here. What does not go away that he does not give things that are correct. As art, I can try my hand at moving in the diversification of culture.”
