Arms exports from Belgium to Israel are increasing, but “illegal transit” is particularly worrying

Minister for Development Aid Caroline Gennez (Vooruit) and CD&V want to ban Israeli oranges from our store shelves. But at the same time, Belgium exports millions of euros in military equipment to Israel. Most worrying is the ‘transit’ of weapons that find their way into Israel via the airports of Zaventem and Liège. The unions are sounding the alarm. Flemish MP Staf Aerts (Green) even talks about “illegal arms transactions” and demands stricter controls.
