contract expires
Arminia Bielefeld has to do without record goalscorer Fabian Klos “indefinitely”. The 34-year-old striker suffered a “serious head injury” in the 1-1 draw against VfB Stuttgart on Saturday, as the East Westphalians announced. Klos and teammate Alessandro Schöpf rattled their heads just before the end of the game. While Schöpf quickly stood up again, Klos was taken from the field on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
It is unclear whether the attacker will be on the pitch again for Bielefeld. The club legend had declared in mid-February that the contract, which expired in the summer, would not be extended. In 2011, the right-footed player came to Bielefeld from the reserves of VfL Wolfsburg and has so far played 389 games in which he has scored 162 goals – no player has scored more often in Arminia’s history.
