Flexible full-back
Arminia Bielefeld has signed Silvan Sidler from FC Luzern, thus securing a full-back who can play on both sides for the coming season in the 2nd Bundesliga. In a club statement, sporting director Samir Arabi attests the 23-year-old “great potential for development”. He will receive a contract until 2025. As his contract with the Swiss Super League club expires, the former youth international can move on a free transfer.
“Both offensively and defensively, he stands out with his high level of activity. We are convinced that he will quickly adapt to the requirements of the 2nd Bundesliga,” added Arabi. Sidler, who played in 139 competitive games for Lucerne’s first team, mostly played on the left side of defence, but has increasingly played on the right side for around a year and a half.
“It was always my dream to be able to play in Germany and that’s why I’m very happy to be playing for Arminia now,” said Sidler: “I was in contact with those responsible very early on and we had very good discussions. Arminia is an ambitious club and we have big goals next season.”
