Armed robbery at a restaurant: man (38) gets two years in prison

The 38-year-old man who committed an armed robbery at restaurant-café De Buffel in his hometown of Best in February has been sentenced to two years in prison. According to the court in Den Bosch, he is guilty of the robbery and illegal possession of weapons. If the man commits another offense after serving his prison sentence, he will have to go to jail for an extra year.

The man was also suspected of a robbery at cafeteria De Smickel in Best. He would also have made another attempt to rob another catering business. The judge found the evidence too thin and acquitted the man. The man was sentenced to five years in prison.

The man arrived at De Buffel on the Dorpsplein in Best on the evening of February 10 around a quarter past eleven. He threatened the bartender with an air pistol and a BB gun. He demanded money from the till. He also aimed his gun at one of the guests and shouted: “Stay there, keep your distance, I’ll shoot you.”

Overpower
At that time, dozens of guests were in the business. Some of them were able to overpower the man. This happened after the man had put the stolen money in a shoulder bag and wanted to leave the business. The customers were able to hold him until the police arrived. One of the guests was bitten by the robber.
