Armed man steals 59 pants and threatens store employees: 3 years in prison

A 24-year-old man from Eindhoven has been jailed for three years for the armed robbery of the clothing store Inverno in Someren. Together with another robber, he threatened a shop assistant with a fake weapon on April 15, 2021 and removed 59 expensive pants in one minute. The robbery made a big impression on the saleswoman.

The suspect must pay damages to two store employees totaling 6,500 euros. One of the saleswomen told her story in the TV program Bureau Brabant a month after the brutal and violent robbery: “I screamed my lungs out. Since then I have four eyes and four ears.”

Pre-exploration
The two perpetrators, one of whom has already been convicted, went on reconnaissance a day before the robbery. This way they knew exactly where they had to be and they could take 59 pairs of trousers with them in one minute. Then they flee on a scooter. The value of the loot is about 10,000 euros.

The 24-year-old offender has previously been convicted of similar crimes. He confessed a few weeks after the robbery. Immediately afterwards, he said that this statement was false and that he was being pressured for borrowing the scooter. The court does not believe that because camera images show that he was wearing the same clothes as the robber and that he had the scooter before.

The saleswoman previously told her story in Bureau Brabant.
