Armand Duplantis was in a class of his own at the Ostrava athletics championships.
Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis approached his own record readings, when the jumper reached a score of 612 at the Ostrava Games. Duplantis won the race by a clear margin over the runner-up Kurtis to Marschall.
The Australian Marschall jumped his own record of 590, but was still far from the Swedish jumper’s season best. Third place in the competition came from the Philippines Ernest John Obiena also with a result of 590.
Duplantis’ result of 612 is the top result in the world this season. The Swedish jumper also owns the current outdoor track world record of 621. Duplantis tried to surpass 617 in Ostrava, but the bar fell three times, and the star jumper’s competition ended.
In the shot put, the men’s competition was again the hay of a familiar man. The ME man Ryan Crouser kicked the iron ball as far as 22.63 meters and broke the Ostrava competition record at the same time.
New Zealand took second place in the ball competition Tom Walsh, who would also capture a handsome result of 22.15. The Czech Republic Tomas Stanek was third in the season’s best 21.71.
Competition records were also set in women’s high-speed hurdles and men’s discus throw. Puerto Rico Jasmin Camacho-Quinn darted the fenced track in 12.42 and Slovenia’s Kristjan Ceh threw his puck to 68.55.
