Arjen Lubach thinks RTL News is very mean to Geert Wilders

Yesterday, on the day of his 25th anniversary as a Member of Parliament, Geert Wilders received a severe sneer from RTL Nieuws. “Isn’t it a good time to stop?”

PVV leader Geert Wilders has had a festive day, because yesterday he was a Member of Parliament for exactly 25 years. After the elections, when colleague Kees van der Staaij calls it a day, he will even be the longest-serving Member of Parliament. “The doyen of the Chamber”, Hart van Nederland reporter Merel Ek calls him.

‘Be proud of it’

During a chat with the press, Geert agrees with this title of Merel. “Well, not until December 6 I believe. It is still Mr Van der Staaij and that is a good thing, but it will be me from December 6, you are right about that, if I am lucky enough to be re-elected.”

He continues: “It is always a question of waiting for the elections, of course, but if that happens, then I am the doyen. And today 25 years as a Member of Parliament, so yes, something to be proud of.”

Common question

Then RTL News breaks in with a nasty question, presumably from reporter Floor Bremer: “You didn’t think: that’s a good time to stop?”

Geert does not let himself be fooled, can be seen in the fragment: “No, rather: to stick to it for another 25 years.”

Not much sense

Arjen Lubach concludes in his Evening show that the RTL reporter clearly ‘didn’t feel like it’. “Okay okay. He’s not coming to my tenth wedding anniversary! “Long,” she says. “Shouldn’t you even get a divorce?” No, fuck off, dude!”

What a party pooper, Arjen wants to say. “’We are delighted with the birth of our second child.’ ‘And you didn’t think: I’ll push it back? RTL News.’”
