Arizona Cardinals: Comeback date for quarterback Kyler Murray has been set

Kyler Murray will make his comeback for the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL on Sunday in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons. Head coach Jonathan Gannon announced this on Monday.

Gannon admitted that Murray still had to get through the next week of training unscathed, but then nothing would stand in the way of a comeback. Gannon is “happy with where Murray is at right now.” “We’ll see how the week goes,” Gannon added.

The Cardinals plan to activate Murray on the PUP list on Wednesday, the 21st and final day of his practice window, reinstating him to the 53-player roster. According to Gannon, the last step before Murray’s return is training with the 1st team offense this week.

Murray last played in Week 14 of 2022 when he tore his ACL in a game against the New England Patriots. Since then he has been working on his comeback. Gannon, however, immediately put the brakes on when it came to expectations for his quarterback: “We have to be willing to understand that he might not look like Kyler. And I think he has realistic expectations. The coaches have good expectations of that and I do knows this: He’s going to go out there, play his game and help us win.”

Cardinals: Another starter before returning

The Cardinals started the season with Joshua Dobbs as the starter and at least won one game. However, they were competitive in numerous games. At the beginning of last week, Dobbs was traded to the Minnesota Vikings, where he played in the first game and will also start next week. Meanwhile, rookie Clayton Tune recently started for the Cardinals and will act as a backup after Murray returns.

In addition to Murray, the Cardinals can also hope for the return of running back James Conner, who has been on injured reserve since suffering an injury in Week 5 but could now be activated.
