It’s been four years since Ariana Grande’s last LP POSITIONS, and since then the 30-year-old has focused primarily on filming the musical “Wicked”. But now the singer and actress announces that a follow-up album is on the way. ETERNAL SUNSHINE is the name of the new record and it will be released on March 8th.
Album title as a homage to Jim Carrey film
The title ETERNAL SUNSHINE is no coincidence – it is a nod to Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman’s film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” (2004), which starred Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. Grande is a big fan of Carrey and has already worked with him and Gondrys in the second season of “Kidding.”which she subsequently described as the “most beautiful experience” of her life.

After a long musical break, Ariana Grande last released the track “yes, and?” on January 16th. The first single from the record addresses Grande’s skeptics and their criticism of the singer. She wrote and produced the song with Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh, who have also worked on songs like “Problem” and “No Teams Left to Cry” in the past. The accompanying music video already had fans speculating about a new work, as the first scene shows a red card with the inscription “ag7”. Many on social media assumed that this was the announcement of her seventh studio album.
