Argument at road narrowing: cyclist hit by man in car on purpose

A 55-year-old motorist from Haarlem was arrested in Breda on Wednesday morning after driving in Dr. Struyckenstraat would have deliberately hit a cyclist. This happened at a road narrowing where the motorist wanted to overtake the cyclist, a 40-year-old man from Breda.

According to a police spokesman, the cyclist stated that the motorist wanted to overtake him at the road narrowing, but there was no room for that. At that moment, he says he sprayed water on the car with his water bottle to show his displeasure.

The motorist then allegedly tapped him on purpose, causing the cyclist to fall and end up on the street between two parked cars. The victim had problems with his left wrist and left leg, but he did not have to go to the hospital.

The cyclist has reported assault.
