Alejandro Papu Gomez, who won the 2022 FIFA World Cup championship with the Argentina National Team, was banned for two years for doping.
According to media reports, the 35-year-old player, whose sample was taken shortly before the World Cup and a banned substance was detected, was banned from football for two years.
The Argentinian football player, who drank children’s syrup belonging to his son without consulting the Sevilla club doctors, for whom he played last season, cited the syrup as the reason for the positive test.
Papu Gomez, whose contract was terminated by Sevilla, which won the UEFA Europa League, on the last day of the transfer window, signed a contract with the Italian team Monza in September.
