Fifa has started an investigation into the activities of the Argentine team, reports AP. Argentina beat the Netherlands hard in Friday’s heated quarter-final match.
Argentina’s substitute players and members of the coaching staff rushed to the grass in the final moments of the match’s actual playing time. Argentinians’ disrespectful gestures after the penalty shootout have also caused astonishment and will probably be the subject of an investigation.
A total of 18 warnings were handed out in the match and after the match had already ended. Argentina’s share was ten, Holland’s eight.
Catching five cards in a match automatically means Fifa is activated, so Holland’s actions in the match will also be investigated.
Fifa has not announced its sentencing schedule.
Argentina will face Croatia in the semifinals. The match will be played on Tuesday.
