Argentina to give WHO data on Sputnik V performance

The Ministry of Health of Argentina will transfer to the World Health Organization data on the effectiveness of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V.

“We have been asked to share all the information we have on the effectiveness of both Sputnik V and the CanSino vaccine and Sinopharm in pediatrics,” said Argentine Health Minister Carla Vissotti.

Vissotti clarified that WHO experts conducting the evaluation of the vaccine need real-life data on its effectiveness.

Sputnik V has been in use in Argentina since December 2020. In December 2021, the country fully approved vaccine “Sputnik Light”. During the use of the vaccine, scientists in Buenos Aires found that the ability to neutralize any strain of coronavirus after inoculation with the vaccine “Sputnik V” increases over time. This is because antibodies mature gradually, which improves their ability to block virus and prevent infection.

Sputnik V is the world’s first coronavirus vaccine; it has been approved in 71 countries and is 97.6% effective.
