The former attacker told America TV that he stopped playing because he had “lost his number one fan,” his father, who was brain dead during his son’s final year. At Boca Juniors, where Tévez was back on the ball from 2017 and after a China adventure since 2021, there was still hope for another year with the world star. In Buenos Aires, Tévez made the leap into professional football in 2002. After the death of his father, he no longer has anyone to play for.

Tévez made most appearances for a club during his time at Manchester City, although his greatest success came at city rivals Man United, winning the premier club title. The 76-time national player also celebrated two championships in England with the “Red Devils”. Another followed at City, and later in Italy two more with Juventus Turin. With his moves to Corinthians, West Ham and Shanghai, Tévez generated transfer proceeds of almost 100 million euros.
