Arend is very up to date with his 500 antique clocks

Arend Schonewille has about 500 clocks in and around his house in Hollandscheveld. He likes to collect hanging clocks, especially Schwarzwalders, because they are nice and small. The latter is an important point if every square inch of your wall is filled with clocks. “I don’t have any room left, it’s all full.”

Winding all the clocks takes half a day, so he doesn’t do that anymore. He does repair and maintain his clocks. The barn is a collection of parts and dusty remains that Arend hopes to get to one day. “I could use two lives, but yes.”

All his time goes into the clocks with Arend and he grants everyone such a hobby. “A lot of people can’t do that, but luckily I do have it in me. That I say: ‘I think it’s all fine, but I’m going to go into the barn for a while.'”
