Area ban for three young people after a fight at the Ukrainian shelter

Three young people have been banned from the area by the municipality of Best, after they got into a fight last week with residents of the reception location for Ukrainians on Koningin Emmalaan. There was pushing and pulling from both sides. These are young people between the ages of 16 and 19.

According to the police, a group of young people had selected the schoolyard of the reception location to go hang out. But that is not allowed, the shelter is prohibited for people who are not staying there. The refugees were therefore not served by the loitering youth and asked them to leave.

It then went wrong twice, last week Thursday. Videos are circulating on the internet with images of the quarrels. There was some pushing and pulling involved. As far as is known, no one was injured.

Mayor Hans Ubachs already responded at the time: “The group is known for regularly causing nuisance. It is important that the Ukrainians feel safe.” The police and boas keep extra supervision on the spot. According to residents, it has been quiet for a few days.

After an investigation by the police, it was decided to impose three area bans, says a municipal spokesperson. “Those three persons were already known to us.” Local residents confirm that the police and boas regularly monitor and drive past the shelter. Cameras are also used to check whether the young people are complying with the ban.

Since the beginning of this year, about sixty refugee Ukrainians have been taken care of in the former Wilhelmina school.
