Are the Jets already formulating the swan song for Zach Wilson?

Zach Wilson suffered a concussion in Week 15 and is out for the remainder of the NFL season. The latest comments from the New York Jets camp also suggest that the quarterback will not play for Gang Green again.

After Aaron Rodgers’ injury, Wilson was thrown into the deep end at the start of the season. However, he was only able to lead the Jets to four wins in eleven games as a starter. At times the playmaker even had to make do with the bench. A farewell in the offseason seems inevitable.

Trevor Siemian, who has been at the helm of the Jets offense for Wilson since Week 15, apparently also believes that his colleague has thrown his last balls in the New York jersey. At least you can interpret his sentences that way.

“There really is no patience for anyone, especially not for quarterbacks and especially not in this market,” said Siemian in an interview with the New York Post, hinting at Wilson’s imminent departure. “But I think Zach will be fine in the long run.”

CJ Mosley, meanwhile, echoed Wilson’s future. “Whatever he has set out to do,” was the linebacker’s answer when he was asked in the “New York Post” interview what else the quarterback could achieve.

NFL: Jets coach avoids Wilson confession

On Wednesday, Jets coach Robert Saleh fueled the rumors of Wilson’s departure by refusing to make a clear statement on the subject.

“We’ll see,” the 44-year-old initially evaded at the press conference and then added: “It’s all things we have to talk about after the season, but here or somewhere else, I think he’ll have a damn good career .”

The head coach also described Wilson as a “fighter” who has improved in many areas. “Some things were out of his control, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I think he’s going to have a long career,” Saleh concluded.
