‘Are people still waiting for Johnny de Mol?’

Airen Mylene wondered on national radio whether people are still waiting for her colleague Johnny de Mol. She is okay with him not being put on the VI substitute.

It surprises friend and foe that SBS 6 has brought in the public broadcasting duo Gijs Groenteman and Marcel van Roosmalen for the summer replacement of Today Inside. After all, the boss’s son had to say goodbye to HLF8 and would have been willing to run a talk show for a few weeks in the summer.

‘Johnny? No!’

Radio 538 sidekick Jelte van der Goot would have thought Johnny de Mol as host of the summer VI was a good idea, he says in the afternoon show from Frank Dane. “Shouldn’t he have just taken over VI this summer?”

Airen Mylene, newsreader in the program, then very firmly: “No.”

And Frank also agrees. Short and sweet: “No.”

Jelte surprised: “Why not? He did HLF8 really nice, didn’t he?”

Bad idea

Frank has confidence in the new duo. “But Marcel & Gijs is going to be a blast, isn’t it?”

Jelte: “Wouldn’t it have been fun?”

Frank: “Yes, it would have been nice, but bad idea, Jelt.”

Then Airen comes out very nasty about Johnny. She literally says, in a pretty bitchy tone: “Are people really waiting for Johnny?”

Talk about it

Oops, making such false comments about his son on John de Mol’s radio station; That’s not handy. Frank quickly talks about it. “I think Johnny should just do something fun now,” he says, pointing to the summer show that Johnny is going to make: Kwis met Ballen.

Airen: “Yeah, well, that’s this.”

Frank: “That he thinks: I have said enough about the news now. I want to give some money away.”

Jelte: “Yes, like: when it gets boring, you pull a ball.”

Frank: “Yeah, nice right?”

Separate move

Airen: “No, it’s not pulling balls. They are pushed into a swimming pool. It’s also real entertainment. It will be fun.”

She doesn’t seem to have much faith in it. “I think it is special move for him, so to speak.”

Frank and Jelte are silent again.

Rob passed

Many critics think De Kwis met Ballen fits Rob Kemps better. TV connoisseur Rob Goossens says: “When you see that, you think: this is perfect for Rob Kemps, but he has not even discussed it. They say he still has things in the pipeline.”

Rob wonders if Johnny should venture into this. What does he think it sounds like? “Yes, a bit cheap. The Kwis met Ballen… Yes, then I am thinking about AliExpress junk actually.”
