“Are not happy” – ARD sports director about Van Gaal’s explanation

Bonds coach Louis van Gaal surprised after the game against Germany with a positive corona finding. Does that also have an aftermath for the ARD duo Sedlaczek / Schweinsteiger? t-online asked.

When everyone thought Tuesday evening was already over, Louis van Gaal came up with a “surprise”: “On Monday I had a positive PCR test,” said the Dutch national coach at the press conference after the 1-1 draw against Germany. “But the doctor told me that it was only residual symptoms of the virus that took longer to detect with a PCR test than with a rapid test.”

The bond coach’s spontaneous corona revelation caused astonishment in the room – after all, “LvG” was only a few meters away from the journalists present. The 70-year-old had previously hugged DFB star Thomas Müller on the fringes of the game, shook hands with Manuel Neuer and stood relaxed during the interview with ARD duo Esther Sedlaczek and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

“Both do not have to be in quarantine”

Does this have consequences for the moderator and the expert? The first has now reacted: “Of course we are not happy with the situation,” says a written statement from ARD sports coordinator Axel Balkausky for t-online, “immediate consequences for our moderator Esther Sedlaczek and our expert Bastian Schweinsteiger result from this but not.”

Isolation is not planned: “Both of them do not have to be in quarantine according to the applicable regulations, provided they are symptom-free themselves,” Balkausky continued. “They will test each other regularly up until the group draw on Friday and will perform as planned in the event of negative results.”
