Last week, the province of Groningen, the municipalities and the housing associations announced that they will build no fewer than 28,500 homes until 2030. With this contribution to the National Housing and Construction Agenda of Minister Hugo de Jonge (CDA, Wonen) they hope for extra millions of support from the government. The municipality of Groningen is committed to the construction of at least 1500 owner-occupied homes and 200 to 240 social rental houses per year. The majority of these homes are to be located in De Suikerzijde, Stadshavens, Reitdiepzone and Meerstad.
