Architect Rudolf Zijlstra devises this plan to open the aqueduct in A7 for traffic during repairs: ‘Closed for six months is really too long’

Rijkswaterstaat placed ten thousand sandbags on the road under the aqueduct at Uitwellingerga. They provide the necessary pressure on the tunnel segment that rises through groundwater. Nevertheless, architect Rudolf Zijlstra sees opportunities to open a lane in both directions, so that traffic can once again use the important national highway.
