Archer Gabriela Schloesser-Bayardo from Nuth has won gold at the European Championships together with Rick van der Ven. The Dutch duo was the strongest in the final of the recurve part.
In the final battle, Germany was defeated 5-3.
strong
In the final of the recurve, unlike some other categories, it is not about the total number of points, but about winning five set points as a team. A win in a set gives two points, a draw gives both countries one point. Schloesser and Van der Ven started very strong in the final and scored 37 points. They took full advantage of the fact that the German team shot a seven and led 2-0.
Level
In the second set the level of the Germans went up, but the Orange was almost clear. With the exception of Schloesser’s nine, the Netherlands only shot tens, making the Orange 4-0 in sets and one set of the victory. In the third set, many scores of a nine were noted. However, the Netherlands also shot two eights, making the Germans 4-2.
Fourth set
In the fourth set, the Germans were again strong and came to a total of 38 points. Schloesser and Van der Ven had to shoot two tens to win. And they succeeded, so that the Dutch duo quieted the crowd in Munich and could celebrate the European title.
Gold
On Saturday, Gabriela Schloesser’s husband, Mike, also won European gold in the compound section.
