Archaeologists are still at work today. It is striking that some of the bodies are lying on their stomachs. But one skeleton from yesterday appears to be very well preserved. It has already been submitted to Baac’s archaeologists for research
Ghent. Peter Roose, mayor: “It’s all still conjecture based on the history we know. There were no other pieces there. We don’t have any pots or shards yet. But it must have been a burial place for a number of people within the surroundings of the abbey.”
