Aragonés meets in Congress with the parties that denounce espionage

The president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Pere Aragonès, will visit the Congress of Deputies this Thursday to meet with representatives of the parties that have denounced having been victims of “political espionage” through the Pegasus cyber espionage system. “This espionage is not going to be solved with words or with a meeting. This has been much more serious & rdquor ;, has anticipated in Cadena Ser.

The visit takes place in full turbulence as a result of information from ‘The New Yorker’ according to which more than 60 pro-independence leaders -including Aragonès, former presidents Quim Torra and Artur Mas and those around Carles Puigdemont- were spied on with Pegasus, that initially only governments can buy.

These parties have signed a petition for Congress to create a parliamentary investigation commission, a request to which other allies of the Government have joined, such as the PNV, Más País, Compromís, BNG and even United We Can.

Messages to Sanchez

Beyond his contacts in Congress, Aragonès has asked the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to be able to speak “face to face” with him to address this case, which in recent hours has shaken relations between the Generalitat and the central Executive .

This Wednesday, Aragonès threatened Sánchez with withdrawing ERC’s parliamentary support if he does not give explanations and there is no assumption of responsibility for the case.

“We can have a lot of patience, but if there is no assumption of responsibilities, it will be very difficult for this parliamentary stability to continue. How and in what form, we will have to see in the coming days and weeks what steps the Spanish government is taking” Aragonès warned on the Rac1 radio station.

Aragonès focused on the National Intelligence Center (CNI) by considering “plain evidence” that it is responsible for espionage.

However, the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, guaranteed that the CNI complies with the law and its actions are subject to authorization and judicial control, although she did not want to confirm if it has the Pegasus program.
