The ‘president’ requests the management of European funds in the field of “strategic” technological development of the EU
The ‘president’ Pere Aragonès has focused his speech on the Conference of Presidents which takes place in La Palma (Canary Islands) in the defense of Catalan autonomy and the demand for funds to alleviate the effects of the war in Catalan society. According to sources from the Government, the ‘president’ has claimed the powers of the Generalitat to deal with the situation arising from the Russian invasion of Ukraine and has reiterated the request that the Catalan administration be the one to manage the european fundson this occasion, those that concern the strategic autonomy of the European Union, such as the development of microchips, ‘green’ hydrogen production and quantum computing.
In the infrastructure chapter, Aragonès has been in favor of resuming the works to connect the gas networks through the so-called MidCat, the pipeline that connects Algeria to Hostalric and that both Pedro Sanchez as Emmanuel Macron consider, now, after stopping both governments in their day the works, as a strategic one that connects with the French network and, through it, with the center of Europe. The only prevention of Aragonès has been to support the link between Hostalric and France on the condition that the channeling include the possibility of also transporting ‘green’ hydrogen.

After contextualizing his presence at the Conference of Presidents, which he described as exceptional given the situation in Eastern Europe and affirm its commitment and solidarity with the Ukrainian people and its independence, Aragonès has moved 20 proposals, emphasizing the need for the State to provide extraordinary funds to the autonomies for the reception of refugees and to face the economic consequences for companies and citizens.
